Investing in the Future: Sercova Scholarship Empowers East Seram Youth Through Education

Seram Bagian Timur, a region rich in natural beauty and potential, faces significant challenges in its development, especially financial constraints that often prevent potential young generations from accessing proper higher education. Recognizing this challenge, Sercova proudly launched the Beasiswa Sercova (Sercova Scholarship) program as a full commitment to empower local communities in Sercova operational areas through providing equitable access for students with academic potential in Eastern Seram who face economic limitations.

This initiative is more than just financial aid; the Sercova Scholarship is a strategic investment for the future, aiming to provide equal opportunities in education and nurture the next generation of leaders and skilled professionals in Seram Bagian Timur.

The Sercova Scholarship's main mission is to overcome financial barriers, thereby enabling talented students to pursue higher education. It is hoped that graduates of this program will not only achieve personal success, but also return to their communities armed with the knowledge and skills needed to drive local development, participate in the global economy, and ultimately contribute to poverty alleviation in their communities. Through investment in education, Sercova projects a brighter and more prosperous future for Seram Bagian Timur.

In its implementation, the Sercova Scholarship applies a comprehensive selection process to identify prospective students who meet the predetermined requirements and criteria. The program was widely socialized in 17 administrative regions within Sercova's operational area from November 2024 to April 2025. This socialization effort succeeded in attracting great interest, with 63 prospective candidates applying. After an evaluation process, 29 exceptional students were selected as the first batch of Sercova Scholarship recipients.

Among the recipients, Agnisia Indasari Ipaenin, a Pattimura University student from Bula State, shared “I am very grateful to PT Strata Pacific (SERCOVA) for choosing me as one of the SERCOVA Scholarship recipients. I will use this scholarship to fulfill my educational needs.”

Similarly, Annisa Rasyidin who is studying at STAI SIFA from Rukun Jaya Administrative State, added, “... This assistance is very helpful for the continuation of my education and is also an additional motivation for me to continue learning.”

The Sercova Scholarship handover ceremony was held on May 2, 2025, which coincided with the National Education Day in Indonesia. This important event took place at the Surya Bula Hotel Hall and was attended by representatives from the Regional Education Office, subdistrict heads from West Bula, Bula, Teluk Waru, Tutuk Tolu, and Kilmury subdistricts, representatives from 17 state/administrative villages, Sercova scholarship recipients, and GAIA director Iis Sahabudin, who is also a co-project implementer. The presence of these key stakeholders affirmed their collective support for the educational initiative and highlighted their expectation of its positive impact on the Seram Bagian Timur region.

The SERCOVA Scholarship is a concrete step toward SERCOVA's broader goal of community empowerment and sustainable development in East Seram. By investing in the education of the younger generation, SERCOVA instills hope for a brighter future and nurtures a generation ready to thrive and contribute positively to their community's well-being.
